About

At Barents Adventure, every journey begins with a deep connection to nature, tradition, and the wild beauty of Northern Norway. This is more than a tour company – it is a personal invitation from founder Jørn Haagenrud to experience Varanger through the eyes of someone who has lived and breathed its landscapes all his life.

About Barents Adventure

The man behind the experiences

Barents Adventure is owned and operated by Jørn Haagenrud – a true Finnmark native with a lifelong passion for nature. Jørn grew up in the far north of Norway, where hunting, fishing and outdoor life were not just hobbies, but a way of life. Today, he shares this passion with guests from all over the world. Following a long career in the field of security, Jørn decided to follow his heart. He founded Barents Adventure to share the very best of Varanger – the raw beauty of its nature, light, sea, bird- and wildlife, and especially its rich food culture.

About the boat

Safety at Sea – backed by experience

As captain, fisherman, chef and guide aboard his sturdy 34-foot boat, MS SILJA, Jørn takes you out on the Barents Sea – always with a focus on quality, genuine experiences, and above all, safety. After many years of working as a police officer, both nationally and internationally, Jørn brings a deep understanding of safety to every trip. At Barents Adventure, “Safety First” is more than just a slogan – it is second nature.

Culinary experiences

Jørn shares his passion for food and culture

Jørn is truly passionate about local food and authentic experiences. He grew up in a family where home-cooked meals, great stories and living traditions brought people together around the table – both on everyday occasions and festive gatherings. This heritage is something he now brings to life at sea. With Barents Adventure, you are not simply going on a boat trip – you are embarking on a culinary journey and an experience to remember.
